As you head down Chapel Street, South Yarra, just by the Prahran Market you’ll spot a new expanse of green. It’s an interior garden wonderland ready to eat, and one giant Fig that sets the scene….

Abacus Bar and Kitchen is the brain child of Dylan Whitmore who set up his first bar in Northern China at the age of 21, now his exciting new venture is bringing a daring new taste to Chapel street with woodfired pizzas, home baked bread and a local and unusual palette such as avocado wedges or corn flakes with pumpkin milk for brunch. (which are a must try!).
Dylan and the team now find themselves at the top of the Fig tree : the cat’s been let out of the bag via an array of Australia’s leading blogs such as Broadsheet and Urban list.

The excitement of this humble oasis lives on as the now beautiful wilderness grows into its habitat thanks to our Horticulture team who maintain this wonderful garden.

The team from EAT Interiors – who designed the indoor space in collaboration with our Interior Garden Design team – are now gearing up ahead of the #eatdrinkdesignawards2017 where Abacus has been shortlisted for best restaurant. This also marks the time that this beautiful adventure tells the next secret chapter which I can’t giveaway just yet, but all I can say is, look out for the brave new green.
