Drawn to gardens and design from a young age, Phil began his career through more art based development studying a Diploma in Arts at RMIT majoring in screen print design as he learned the art of making clothes. He was then drawn to the landscape industry through working in garden maintenance and patches of landscape construction. During this time he was studying a Diploma in Landscape Design and Sustainability at Swinburne and started to form an edgy landscape design sense.
Phil has grown to become a new breed of landscape designer who has the benefit of youthful creative dare, exuberance and contemporary sensibility, balanced with years of experience in the industry and a diverse work history. Phil has designed multiple award winning show gardens both in Melbourne and Sydney and has grown a portfolio of professional work along Australia’s east coast. Phil is very versatile and playful in his design. His trademark is to paint contemporary colour and form into his works with both architectural elements and a strong focus on divine and sensory plant selection.
Phil now writes garden design articles for well-known publications such as Garden Drum and works closely with various Australian-made brands to raise awareness on the importance of sustainability in landscape design. During his development years he has been lucky enough to wander across the globe, just he and his camera, gathering inspiration and knowledge from a myriad of people and the furthest of places to translate into his timeless design method.
