The formal Victorian frontage has been lovingly restored, with a contemporary, submerged three-storey extension quietly unfolding behind. It’s a home of delightful contrasts — heritage at the street, modern living beyond — with moments where the landscape playfully reveals itself through architectural apertures. These framed glimpses create pop-up garden scenes, offering serene views and a calm, green oasis from unexpected angles.

At ground level, the garden balances lively entertaining with quieter pockets for pause. With limited space surrounding the pool and dining terrace, we leaned into the edges — layering vertical surfaces and boundaries with lush planting to maximise impact.

Through expansive glazing, the compact garden feels immersive and abundant. Layered foliage brings depth and softness, while a hero bottlebrush tree anchors the view from the lounge, proudly taking centre stage. The planting palette is sculptural and expressive, offsetting the clean lines and cooler tones of concrete and bluestone. Around the pool, tropical textures create a subtle sense of escape, while oversized foliage viewed from the bath transforms everyday rituals into something a little more indulgent.

Above, the rooftop garden extends the landscape skyward. Integrated planter boxes sit seamlessly within the built form, allowing cascading species to spill gently over edges and soften the architecture with movement and greenery.

At the front, ornamental planting complements the restored period façade with colour, structure and seasonality. A thoughtful mix of deciduous and evergreen species ensures the streetscape shifts and evolves throughout the year — contributing warmth, character and a touch of garden theatre to the neighbourhood.
